Medically Supervised Weight Loss at New Start Medical

Many of us struggle with weight-related problems – being overweight or obese, diabetes, hypertension, elevated cholesterol, sleep apnea, back and joint pain, fatigue, or a variety of other issues. A recent study indicated that even moderate obesity shortened lifespans by an average of 3 years and morbid obesity could short lifespans by an average of 8-10 years¹.Depending on the cause of these problems, losing weight can reduce many of the symptoms associated with these conditions. The problem is that it can be difficult to lose weight and even harder to keep the weight off.

At New Start Medical we provide medical weight management developed to meet the specific needs of every patient. Each patient will be evaluated and treated by a Board Certified Obesity specialist, also known as a Bariatrician, at each visit. Our goal is to help you achieve and maintain a healthy weight.

There are countless programs available to help people lose weight. Some of these programs have a strong basis in medical science; others do not. It can be difficult to sort through the many, many claims made by programs to find one that is both safe and effective.

Our program follows the American Society of Bariatric Physicians (ASBP) guidelines and has been designed to provide safe and healthy weight loss in a medically supervised setting. Management of diseases associated with obesity is an important part of the program. Safe and effective weight loss is our goal and our medical specialists will communicate closely with your family physician in order to meet this goal.
